Trans-Pacific Spot Rates Ease

Spot rates on the trans-Pacific trade slid slightly week-over-week, following a rate increase of $300 per 40-foot equivalent unit (FEU) two weeks ago implemented by Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (TSA) carriers on March 15th.

The container rate benchmark for moves between Hong Kong to Los Angeles were down 0.4% to $2,004 from $2,013 per FEU this week after jumping by $242 two weeks ago.  Year-over-year, this weeks’ spot rate is 18.4 percent higher than it was the same week in 2011.
